Foreign Aid to Mediterranean Neighbours: What Objectives? What Results?

The study identifies the stated foreign aid objectives of the largest donors to the Mediterranean region and assesses the importance of different
objectives in explaining aid allocation to the region. The study also presents empirical analysis on the effectiveness of overall aid, different aid
modalities and sectors, so as to explain the channels through which aid works. The initial findings of the study were presented to the Euro-Mediterranean
Economic Transition Conference, 10th Anniversary of the Barcelona Process, organised by the European Commission, Brussels April 2005.
